Over the past few weeks, if you’ve been noticing what seems to be a higher number of accidents involving trucks, we share the same concern. And it’s time to ask that question once again, ‘Should we band all trucks from the roadways during rush hour periods?’

I have seen no research to dispute my thought that trucks are causing traffic misery throughout the South Fraser. I can only tell you from what I’ve been reporting in my traffic reports that that seems to be the case.

Yesterday two separate semi truck incidents that paralyzed Highway 17 for the entire rush.

Earlier today a double dump truck creating chaos for the morning commute along Highway 1.

South Fraser has more trucks on the roads during the morning and afternoon rush at than anywhere else in BC.

On October 2nd a Delta Police conducted a commercial vehicle check. Of the 357 trucks pulled over, $35,000 in fines and nearly half of them were pulled off the road. Only 39 trucks passed without any problems.

Does that sound safe to you?

I don’t trust the semi trucks we share the roads with.

It’s time to ban all trucks from our roadways during rush hours.
