Third person charged in Dhesi murder
A third member of a family has been arrested and charged in relation to the murder of a 19-year-old girl in South Surrey almost two years ago.
Interdeep Deo, 23, has now been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact in the August, 2017 homicide of 19-year-old Bhavkiram Dhesi.
Twenty-one-year-old Harjot Deo, Dhesi’s boyfriend, was initiatlly charged with second-degree murder in relation her killing.
Dhesi’s body was found in a burned vehicle, near 187 Street and 24 Avenue in South Surrey in August, 2017.
Deo’s mother, Manjt Kaur Deo has since been charged with being an accessory after the fact.
And as of this morning, his sister Interdeep Deo has also been charged with accessory after the fact, according to a release by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
“So far three members of the same family have been charged criminally in relation to Bhavkiran’s murder,” said IHIT’s Cpl. Frank Jang. “In spite of the recent charges laid in the case, the investigation remains active and we still urge those with information to come forward.”
Last December, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) appealed to the public to help identify two vehicles believed at the time to be involved in the homicide. They were a dark grey Audi Q7 and dark grey Dodge Ram Truck.
Richardson said IHIT is wanting to speak to the driver of the other vehicle.
Dhesi’s younger sister Anjali Dhesi also appealed to the public at the time, asking for anyone with information about the homicide to come forward.
“Our broken hearts will never heal, and we have no answers as to why this happened to her,” Anjali said. “Kiran made our family whole and gave our lives meaning.
“She didn’t deserve this but she deserves justice.”
Harjot Deo is schedule to appear in Surrey Provincial Court today (Monday).
