On December 23rd at 8:50 pm it’s alleged that Son Thai LU entered a coffee shop located in the 13500 block of 105th Avenue and shot another man before fleeing the scene. LU, 34 years old from Surrey, was known to the victim and is also known to police. The victim received serious injuries and is still recovering.
The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit is leading this investigation. With assistance from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC), LU was located and arrested on December 27th. Officers continue to investigate the matter and have submitted their preliminary findings to Crown Counsel. LU has been formally charged with one count of each of the following offences and will be appearing in court today:
- Attempted Murder
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
