On February 17th, at approximately 2:15 pm, Surrey RCMP Frontline officers attended a residence in the 13300 block of 105 Avenue after receiving a report of an assault. Upon arrival, investigators located an unconscious 60 year-old male with injuries consistent with foul play. The male was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries.
The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for an undetermined amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.
Investigators do not believe this occurrence is linked to the Lower Mainland gang conflict and was an isolated targeted event with no continued risk to public safety. Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase and no further information will be provided at this time.
