(Press Release from BCLC)
Seeing a lot of zeros when checking a lottery ticket can be overwhelming at first. That was the case for Surrey’s Hung Sengsouvanh who, after checking his ticket several times, realized he had won a $1 million Lotto Max Maxmillion prize in the December 14, 2018 draw.
“I was at home and I checked the ticket on my phone and I was like ‘oh, is it $100,000?’ and I started counting the zeros,” said a very happy Sengsouvanh. “My daughter said it was a million and I started doing the happy dance in front of my wife.”
Sengsouvanh moved to Canada from Vietnam in 1981 and has a very close family. With that in mind, one of the first things he plans on doing is traveling to Laos to see his mother. “I am the oldest of my eight siblings and the only one in Canada,” said Sengsouvanh. “I haven’t been back home in a long time.”
Beyond travel back home, Sengsouvanh wants to help out his children and pay off some of their loans. “I have a very tight family and lots of love in my house. Our family spends every weekend together so I want to make sure they are happy as well,” beamed Sengsouvanh.
“I buy tickets every Friday at the Port Kells Petro Canada gas station in Surrey before I go to work, every draw,” added Sengsouvanh. “Now I’m going to stop working, pay everything off and just enjoy life.”
Sengsouvanh is one of 34 British Columbians to win a Lotto Max Maxmillion prize in 2018. Anyone can win and #youcouldbenext. Watch some amazing lottery winner stories at www.playnow.com/lottery/winners/you-could-be-next.
