The City of Surrey is becoming a more family-friendly place for children and adults with autism.
The Museum of Surrey has announced today (Aug 13 2019) that it will run “sensory-friendly hours: from 10am-12noon on the first Sunday of every month starting in September.
This initiative is supported by the Canucks Autism Network
Sensory friendly hours at Museum of Surrey will offer guests of all ages the opportunity to experience the museum with reduced lighting and sound, a quiet room, as well as complimentary noise-cancelling headphones and other elements to support relaxation during their visit.
In addition to this, Surrey Fire Service has launched a first-of-its-kind “sensory kit program” today, to aid anyone with sensory processing needs during any of their first responder or fire calls.
