Surrey RCMP are advising the public of two shooting incidents which took place in the city overnight. The first incident occurred at approximately 2:08 am on April 3, inside a residence in the area of 91 Avenue and 148 Street. Police received reports of shots fired and a dark coloured SUV was observed fleeing the area. Frontline officers quickly attended and located an adult male inside the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Evidence gathered to this point in the investigation indicates that this was a targeted shooting.
The second incident occurred at approximately 2:46 am, outside of a residence in the area of 142 street and 110 Avenue. Surrey RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired. Frontline officers quickly responded and confirmed a shooting had occurred. No victims were located at the scene and the residence was vacant upon police arrival. Investigators believe this was a targeted shooting related to the drug trade.
There is no information at this time to suggest these two shootings are related. The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit and the General Investigation Unit have assumed conduct of these investigations. The Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team, along with the Surrey Traffic Unit, and the Frontline officers will be conducting enhanced targeted enforcement.
