On Wednesday Pulse Mornings welcomed Maple Ridge Mayoral Candidates Douglas Blamey, Ernie Daykin, Michael Morden and Craig Speirs for day three of our Mayoral Candidate Conversations taking place over the next two weeks on Pulse 107.7 FM.
Topics in the discussion, moderated by Pulse Morning’s Ian Power, ranged from what the long term solution is to the Anita Camp homeless site, what their solution is to the issue of garbage pickup in the city and what their thoughts are on the retailing, distribution, consumption and law enforcement of legalized recreational marijuana.
Mayoral candidates were also asked whether they would support moving to a city police force, what some of the differences are in their leadership styles compared to others and finally what’s the best secret in Maple Ridge?
Blamey said it’s the history (rumour has it legendary train robber Billy Miner was known to frequent Maple Ridge), Daykin said its Kanaka Creek Regional Park, Morden says its the iconic Iron Horse monument located in the centre of the community and for Spiers its Maple Ridge’s natural environment and humble roots.
