Saturday night myself and Leah Holiove went to Oktoberfest at Uli’s restaurant on White Rock Beach. I had been in the past and knew what I was in for. Leah and her man Carlos did not. It started with being greeted at the door by owner Tyson Blume. Tyson really goes all out to make sure it’s as close to Oktoberfest in Munich, including the Lederhosen. He also had a fully German menu along with the regular menu. The servers all wore what is known as Dirndls and were wonderful. The dinner was great as always, as was the entertainment.
Franzl is an accordion playing, adult themed entertainer who took a shine to us right off the bat. Franzl calls his instrument a, ‘Squeezebox’. He came and sat down next to me and serenaded us with all the german drinking songs. I never realized how loud a Squeezebox was until after the third song. In a kidding manor I asked Franzl if he had any ear plugs. He said sure and reached into his pocket and gave me a pair of women’s Victoria Secret underwear.
Funny guy!
(To be honest, I wondered why he had woman’s underwear in his pocket, but that’s an entirely different conversation)
We ate, we drank, we sang, and had an absolute blast. Oktoberfest continues thru next weekend with Franzl looking to sing you German Drinking Songs next Friday and Saturday.
