On Pulse Mornings, Tara Lopez had the opportunity to have an interview with Harley Chappell, Chief of the Semiahmoo First Nations, discussing the upcoming Nation Indigenous Peoples Day.

The event will be held at Holland Park on June 21, 2019, from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

The festivities will feature various cultural activities such as dancing performances, arts and crafts, food, and cultural conversation. Among this, there will be exhibitioners with a variety of different offerings – an opportunity for an engaging and educational experience for the public.

With Surrey being home to three land-based First Nations Groups (Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, and Katzie), this celebration is a significant nod to their rich history in this area.

With around 5,000 people in attendance at last year’s National Indigenous Peoples Day in Surrey, it is expected that there will be approximately 6,000-7,000 attendees this year.

With rich culture, food, and a sense of community, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
