On September 20, 2018 just after 8:30 a.m., the Richmond RCMP responded to an abandoned residence in the 9000-block of Odlin Road after a man’s body was discovered inside the building. The man’s death was deemed suspicious and IHIT was called in to take conduct of the investigation.
IHIT continues to work closely with the Richmond RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to collect evidence. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Michael Thompson of Richmond. Mr. Thompson was known to police. Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
