It’s the song your two year old loves to “move” to (and ok maybe the adults too) watching Madagascar.

Today’s flashback song is “I like to Move it” by electronic dance duo Reel 2 Real who had a string of dance hits in the early 90s.

It came out in 1993 and and quickly became the “go to” dance song in clubs, step classes, and pretty much anywhere else you can bust out a move.

The song also had a second wind in the movie Madagascar where the animals twerked their butts to the song at the end of the film, with pretty much every toddler at home twerking along.

The song also appeared in the films The Master of Disguise and Saving Silverman.

As catchy and infectious as it was (kind of hard to forget a song it, when its the same line over and over) it actually didn’t do that well on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1994, peaking at number 89.

I don’t care, it will always be my retro, pump up song of choice!
