Ever wonder what happens to unclaimed bikes that have been abandoned or stolen?
Turns out, in Delta, they donate them!
Although they always make an effort to find the owners, often they end up being unclaimed and forgotten. This month alone, the Delta Police have donated almost 20 bikes to REC for Kids, a non-profit organization that donates sports equipment to children in need. Volunteers ensured the bikes were in tip-top condition by doing any repairs that were needed, to ensure they were safe and ready to roll.
With sports equipment being so expensive nowadays, this is a great way to give back to the community, and help the environment too through recycling bikes that otherwise may have been thrown out.
