At least two candlelight vigils are being held in Surrey tonight (March 20) to pay tribute to the 50 people killed in the New Zealand mosque shootings last week.
The first one is taking place at Holland Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
“It’s to show solidarity for the victims families and to bring together generations of people from different faiths to create a dialogue to promote peace and understanding,” said organizer Sikander Hayat, speaking to Neil and Leah on Pulse Mornings Friday.

Another vigil is set for set for 7:30 p.m. at 8356 120th St, organized by Radio Fiji Mirchi.
Surrey RCMP are expected to be conducting patrols at both events.
