Earlier this week Greenpeace Canada released their list of the countries, ‘Top Polluters’, and leading the way some very familiar names.
After doing multiple tests and 239 ‘clean-up audits’, they found that the top 5 polluting companies are Nestle’, Tim Hortons, PepsiCO., The Coca-Cola Company and McDonalds.
Of over 2,000 identifiable brands of plastic waste found on our shores, these 5 companies make up almost 50% of the total garbage. Internationally, Coca-Cola was number one world wide in garbage found. Coca-Cola products were found in 40 of 42 countries that took part in the clean-up.
Now, there’s two potential arguments here in regards of who should take the blame. Do we blame the customer for being so careless with their empties? Or, do we blame the Corporation for such polluting?
To me the answer is clear: The multi-national companies named must be held responsible for their product, and that includes cups and various other throwaway products.
Surely they know how much waste they create?
Why hasn’t anything been done?
It’s 2018. It’s time for companies to make things better for the worlds survival.
It’s starts now.
