A Little Long In the Tooth?

By October 11, 2018General

How many times do you see your Dentist per check-up?

I ask that question because Ive started going to a new dentist and after two full appointments, there are two more appointments now booked before my teeth are clean, according to the new place I’ve been going to.

First appointment was a consolation. That makes sense. They wanted to find out about my history, do some x-rays, etc.

Today it was the second appointment. This time for a cleaning. After 90 mins and half my mouth fully – and I’m mean fully – done, the hygienist told me I would need two more appointments, ‘And then we’re done.’

Two more appointments?

My former dentist would have me in for one appointment, and as long as there was no significant problems (fillings. root canal, etc) that would be the appointment.

Two more appointments?

It has been a few years since my last appointment, but all of a sudden I need 4 appointments in total for one full cleaning…

Is it just me or does that not seem a little extreme?

Thankfully, my companies dental plan is pretty good. This Dental Care Centre also know what my plan is.

At this point I will honour the final two appointments, but it has me thinking perhaps this Dental centre trying to book appointment after appointment may be getting a bit long in the tooth.

And it was only my second appointment.
